Founded in 1946 by Akio Morita under the name of Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha (Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation) Sony adopted its present corporate name (Sony Corporation) in 1958. Two years later, Sony Corporation of America was established in New York. In 1961, Sony was the first Japanese company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Sony has just announced the release of the S-Airplay, a new wireless multi-room sound system for your iPod. The S-Airplay transmits wireless audio from a base station and can support up to 10 receiver/speakers placed in different rooms all over the house.
