We all know Netflix, the video-on-demand service with a monthly fee. However, several Web-connected TVs don’t support subscriptions to NetFlix. CinemaNow is an alternative that is available to Canadians, particularly Panasonic customers.

CinemaNow has just arrived in Canada. The service is similar to what NetFlix offers. By contrast, with CinemaNow you pay for each item, renting movies and television shows one at a time. Prices start at $ 3.99 for a film and $ 2.49 for an episode, or you can buy the digital version for $ 9.99 per item.

Already, at launch time, there are over 10,000 shows and movies offered to customers. Unlike other suppliers of entertainment TV, you don’t have to subscribe to CinemaNow. For those who do decide to register, they can store movies and videos virtually, in addition to having access to new and exclusive titles.

To install CinemaNow on your TV with Panasonic Viera Connect technology, visit the Viera Connect Market from the device. Most 2010 and 2011 Panasonic TV models are compatible with this new movie rental interface.

The CinemaNow service is powered by Roxio platform technology.

People are talking about 3D technology more and more. Even if only a few months ago, thinking about watching a 3D from the comfort of your living room seemed almost impossible, it is completely the opposite today. And while most manufacturers of LCD or plasma screens are gradually getting into this new niche, Panasonic is clearly ahead. As of today, Fillion Electronics now offers a complete new range of 3D devices.

3 days for 3D

The weekend of June 11, 12 and 13, 3D technology will arrive big time at Fillion Electronics. During these three days, there will be an exclusive launch of the Panasonic 3D line. On site, you can familiarize yourself with this new technology, talk with advisors in the store and even try out a high definition professional 3D video camera.

To celebrate the arrival of 3D television, Fillion is making an offer that will make you see double: with the purchase of a 3D Panasonic set, you will receive a $100 discount, two 3D films and a comprehensive three year warranty on the TV. And contrary to popular belief that 3D technology is expensive, you can equip yourself with a high definition 3D plasma TV for $2,999.

Understanding 3D

In closing, don’t miss the series of articles about 3D technology presented on the Fillion Electronics website. From the beginnings of 3D, or 100 years ago, to the futuristic entertainment technology of today. Visit the blog to find out more.

The discount offer ends July 4, 2010. 3D technology, on the other hand, has only just begun!

Model shown: Panasonic TC-PVT25

A young couple in Blainville, who are both cinema enthusiasts, mandated us to design and build this private home theatre room. Measuring 17′ x 30′ x 8′, this room which is located in the basement, has been specifically fitted out and optimized for large screen projections.

The soundproofing of the room is very efficient and its acoustics is adapted for listening volumes that are meant to do full justice to action movies, a must for home theatre viewers’ comfort. To this end, we adopted several strategies. To reduce reverberation, we designed the lateral walls so that they can absorb part of the sound coming out of the front speakers, we fitted out three alcoves in the ceiling and lined them with insulation boards. In addition, the thick carpets that covers the floor and the DVD storing shelves also contribute to add to the quality of the acoustics in this room.

For this project, we recommended a 115″ diagonal micro-perforated screen. From a listening position perspective, the image is localized 16′ from the screen and covers a 29-degree angle of the field of vision, in line with the THX performance standards. Note that the central loudspeaker enclosure benefits from an optimal location, as it is located behind the screen, in the centre of the image, just like in the theatres!
